Jane Austen, and her characters, always found that one “should be very glad of a little tea” (Mansfield Park, 1814). What better way to celebrate her 250th birthday than with The Pump Room’s brand new afternoon tea menu, inspired by her life and the era in which she lived and wrote?

For Bath Restaurant Week, enjoy a Jane Austen Tea menu perfectly paired with the delicious Darcy, a new tea-based cocktail. Enjoy our tasty savouries, homemade scones and delightful pastries, as you sip this excellent blend of chilled Earl Grey tea and spiced rum, shaken with lemon juice.

SAVOURY SELECTION

  • Cucumber, mint, sheep milk labneh finger sandwich (v)
  • Pump Room Somerset Cider roasted gammon, spiced tomato chutney finger sandwich
  • St Ewes egg salad bridge roll, egg yolk confit (v)
  • Parmesan and pea croustade, pea shoot (veo)

 

SWEET SELECTION

  • Plain and fruit handmade scones, served with West Country clotted cream and strawberry jam
  • Daily selection of Pump Room pastries

Served with a pot of the Pump Room’s house tea collection or hand-roasted filter coffee

All tea packages include complimentary top-ups.

Bookings may be made for up to 6 guests online. For larger parties or additional information, contact The Pump Room on 01225 444477, leave a message or email pumproom@searcys.co.uk. The Pump Room caters for Gluten-free, Pescatarian, Vegetarian, Dairy-free, Nut-free and Vegan diets. They request that you note all requirements on your booking. The Pump Room requires a £10 deposit per person at point of booking to confirm your reservation, and asks you to pre-select the tea package required during the booking process. Additional drinks and items can then be ordered at the table, and a discretionary 12% service charge will also be added to your bill on the day. Cancellations can be made with 48 hours' notice from the reservation time for a full refund. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the reservation time are not refundable and your deposit will be retained.

The Pump Room Information

The Georgian Pump Room has been the social heart of Bath for more than two centuries and boasts amongst its previous patrons Jane Austen and Charles Dickens.

Take a seat under the Chandelier, enjoy a delicious meal and sample the spa water from the fountain, whilst listening to incredible music from the Pump Room Trio or one of their resident pianists.
